Core Strata - Vertical Substrate (XL) Ant Nest/Formicarium
Build your setup your way.....
This modular ant nest combines a natural substrate environment with a precision 3D-printed enclosure, creating a secure and highly functional habitat for digging/tunneling species. The vertical chamber is designed to support natural tunnelling and chamber formation while promoting stable humidity and consistent hydration. A clear acrylic viewing panel allows easy observation of colony growth and underground activity.
š Key Features
- Durable 3D-printed nest regulates humidity and supports brood growth
- Integrated hydration āweepā holes at different heights allows for the creation of a humidity gradientĀ
- Transparent acrylic front cover provides clear chamber and brood visibility
- Sloping floor and external drain allows for removal of excess water if required
- Weep holes and drain have embedded stainless steel mesh for increased escape prevention
- Rear wall ribs assist in maintaining substrate stability and reduce chances of tunnel collapse
- Universal connection design fits standard tubing (13mm & 16mm O/D) for easy expansion and connection to an outworldĀ
Suitable Ant Species
Best suited for smaller species that have a preference for tunneling such asĀ Aphaenogaster longiceps (Funnel Ant), Pheidole sp (Big Headed Ant), Iridomyrmex bicknelli (Pavement Ant).
